Mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services to provide child protection services to children under the age of 18 and their families who live in Durham Region. Durham CAS works in cooperation with organizations throughout Ontario to provide services needed to help families and keep children safe from abuse and neglect.
- Indigenous Services - to ensure that all of services are provided to the region’s Indigenous population in a manner that respects their culture, traditions, and needs, both on and off reserve.
- Adoption – Placing and monitoring children in adoptive homes, assisting those interested in adopting a child, and providing records information on past adoptions.
- Family Support Program - working with families to develop parenting skills through education and counseling, ensuring the safety of the child while preventing the need for further CAS involvement.
- Foster and Kinship Care – working with caregivers to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in the care of the Society.
- High Risk Infant Nurse Program - Nurses works with infants from birth to 2 years of age, assessing and monitoring high-risk infants living with family or a guardian.
- On-Site Health Clinic - provides a range of medical services for children in CAS care as well as children in the community who are receiving mandated services from the Society.

Prenatal Support Program - Working with families on a voluntary basis, where a pregnant woman (who is not currently caring for a child), may need some assistance to ensure the best outcomes for herself and her baby. Helping to ensure the woman and her family are connected to community supports as needed.
